In the same year, Elina is the prizewinner of the “HKB-Best-Trachsel-Stipendium-zum Berufseinstieg” stipend. This first musical departure with her quartet receives marvelous acclaim from the German and Swiss press and is followed by European tours as well as receiving the honorable prize “Coup de Coeur du Canton de Berne 2008”. In 2008 the CD Baresha, first album of Elina Duni Quartet, is released on Meta Records. In 2007 she is the prizewinner of the «Friedl Wald» stipend. During this time she develops the Elina Duni Quartet with Colin Vallon on piano, Lukas Traxel on double bass and Norbert Pfammatter on drums – which represents a return to her musical sources, a combination of Balkan folk songs and jazz. Together with Jose Luis "Sarten" Asaresi she creates the band «Extrangers in the Noise», (CD Harpatic, (Empiriko) – electronic sounds blend with the absurdity of life – then she departs for New York to be confronted with the big city’s solitude.Īfter returning to Switzerland she performs in the play «La preuve du Contraire», directed by Freddy Porras, Geneva.īetween 20 she studies singing and composition at the Hochschule der Kunste Bern, in the jazz department. She gives several jazz concerts in Albania together with the pianist Gent Rushi (CD Live in Tirana) and acts in the play «Three Farces from Chekhov» directed by Spiro Duni, Tirana. Between 20, she plays in the movie «Yllka» (Albania-Switzerland) and co-composes the music. In 2000 after obtaining the «Artistic Diploma», Elina enrolls at the “school of life”. She studies the classical piano at the Conservatoire de Musique de Geneve and continues her studies at the College de Saussure, where she discovers jazz. ![]() In 1992 after the fall of the regime, she arrives in Switzerland and settles in Geneva together with her mother. From 1986 to 1991, she participates in several children’s festivals and sings for the National Albanian Radio and Television.
